Chocolate Raspberry Brownie-Mousse

Oh yum. You have GOT to try this. Chocolate-y, raspberry-ey, soft delicious goodness.

When you taste these, you won’t believe what I’m about to tell you.                                                             These are flouless, and made with beans.

Say what?!

Don’t let that scare you from making these, they are so so delicious.

Chocolate Raspberry Brownie Mousse (adapted from chocolate & carrots)

*Note: I just put raspberries down the middle to get a pretty picture. I suggest putting more in to get more raspberry flavor in the brownie mousse.

Ingredients:

  • 1  can black beans, rinsed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 container apple sauce
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp chocolate extract
  • 1 bar chocolate
  • 1 container raspberries

Preheat oven to 350F. Put beans, eggs, and apple sauce in blender.  Break the chocolate bar into pieces and put in a bowl.  Melt the chocolate in the microwave. Stir the bean mixture into the chocolate. Add the other ingredients and mix. Pour into a greased pan press in the raspberries one by one throughout the pan into the batter.  Cook for 30 minutes. Let it cool before you eat, or just go ahead and eat it if you can’t wait (I know I can’t)!

Summer Product Purchases:

I got some good stuff in the past week! Here they are

MAC MSF in Glissade, Desert Essence Shampoo + Conditioner, CoverGirl Aqua Smoothers

I got the MSF off of Makeup Alley, and it’s a really beautiful beige-y/pink neutral shimmery highlighter.  It’s my first MAC MSF, and I’m really happy because I’ve wanted one for the longest time! Now that I have one, I can admit they’re a little overhyped, but oh well :)

Now these desert shampoos + conditioners are really something special. First, check this out!

Not only are they natural, but they worked wonders on my hair! I usually use sulfate-free shampoo, but last week I was out so I washed my hair with good ol’ Herbal Essences.  It dried out my hair like crazy! This made my hair so shiny and smooth, and was great at detangling!

Last, was aqua smoothers.  Now in my opinion, it has virtually no coverage, so I mix this with the teeniest amount of foundation so it has a little more coverage.  I’ve worn this a few times already, and it’s working well!

Anyone one else have any recent buys? (Beauty or non-beauty)

See ya!

Tropical Cupcakes!

Summer is just around the corner (only 1.5 weeks until school ends!) so here’s a tropical cupcake recipe to start it off well! (They’re vegan too!)

Tropical Cupcakes: (makes about 12)

Ingredients:

For the cupcakes-

  • 1 + 1/3 cup flour (I used whole wheat)
  • 2 flax eggs
  • 1/2 cup apple sauce
  • 1 tsp. coconut extract (imitation in fine if you can’t find the real deal)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup “buttermilk” (1 cup milk + 1 T vinegar)*
  • A little over 1/2 cup sugar*

For the frosting-

  • 1/2 block [soft] tofu
  • 2 T coconut butter (or coconut extract, or both!)
  • 1 container apple sauce
  • 3 T butter/margarine* (I used vegan margarine)
  • 3 T cream cheese* (I used tofu cream cheese)
  • Splash of milk*
  • Shredded coconut, for topping (optional)

*For vegan cupcakes, make sure you use soy/nut milk and vegan (sugar, butter, cream cheese).

Preheat oven to 350F.  Mix dry ingredients in once bowl, and wet in another. Combine all ingredients together. Pour into a muffin tin-lined muffin pan, so each one is about 2/3 – 3/4 full.  Put in oven for 20-30 min.

Frosting-

Put the all the frosting ingredients in a blender to mix. Then you have your frosting!

Frost cupcakes and then EAT!

Little Pink Pleasures

(Post Inspired by Tiffany)

I know coral is the color that’s “in” right now…but I can’t stop wearing pink.  I keep reaching for pink lipsticks, pink blushes, pink eyeshadow..etc.

These are (most o)f my pink makeup products, and they’ve been getting a lot of love lately.  I thought I’d share them with you guys, so maybe you’ll see something you want!

~~~~
(L-R) MAC in Viva Glam GaGa, Zuzu Luxe in Dollhouse Pink, Victoria’s Secret in Muse
Oh Viva Glam GaGa, how I love thee. I know I wasn’t too fond of you when we first met, because I expected you to be so much brighter and bolder, because Lady Gaga is one creative person.  But now I embrace your pale color, and you now might even be my favorite lipstick.  I love how cool-toned you are, it makes you stand out among the large array of pink lipsticks that exist.  Also, I wish you weren’t limited edition, because once I finish you, no more gaga lips for me :(
Dollhouse Pink is similar to Viva Glam GaGa, but it’s more warm-toned.  I (think?) I have cool-toned skin, so I prefer the former, but also I prefer it just because it has something to do with Lady Gaga (yes, I love her).  This is a nice substitute though, because it’s pretty close in color.  I got this at Whole Foods, if you were wondering (I know what you’re thinking: ‘makeup…from Whole Foods?!’ Well, some of the makeup there is actually pretty good quality).
Victoria’s Secret Muse: This is a matte lipstick, but it is very creamy, so it is not as drying of some other matte lipsticks.  This actually doesn’t dry out my lips at all, so first off, I love the formula.  Second, this color is just one of the most beautiful hot pinks I have ever seen! Love-love-love it!
(L-R): Muse, Dollhouse Pink, Viva Glam GaGa
(L-R): Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Rose Petal, Revlon Cream Blush in Rosy Glow
Luminoso is just such a gorgeous blush color.   It’s  pale pink with a touch of coral, and when I saw I just had to have it! It’s pretty pigmented and has a quite a bit of shimmer, but when applied to the face the shimmer is not that noticeable.
These mousse blushes are awesome! The consistency is spongey/creamy, and they are easy to blend it.  This color has noticeable gold glitter in it, but I like that.  I want to buy all the other colors in the dream mousse blush line!
Oh, Revlon.  You usually make great products, but what’s up with the lasting power on this? Anyways, I love the color, but this blush does not last all day.  I’ve been wearing it a lot recently, because I’m just going to school so I don’t really care if it fades, and I’m trying to use it up.  It really is a pretty color though.
(L-R): Rosy Glow, Rose Petal, Luminoso
(L-R): 2 Revlon Super Lustruous Lipglosses in (unknown) & Pink Pop, NARS Super Orgasm, Estee Lauder High Gloss in Rose
Those Revlon lipglosses are –amazing. Seriously, go out and get them, I think I own 5 different colors! ‘Nuff said.
Nars Lipglosses are one of my other favorite lipglosses. The Super Orgasm color is a so sparkly, so if you love sparkles, GET THIS.  If any of you are a fan of MAC Dazzleglasses but can’t handle the stickiness, this one is not sticky at all! NARS definitely knows what’s up when it comes to lipgloss.
This Estee Lauder gloss is just beautiful! Pink with a golden sheen, you guys should definitely check this out.
(L-R): Rose, Super Orgasm, Pink Pop, (unknown)
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P.
Ok, So I love this color! I usually don’t like pink shadows, but this isn’t too pink so that I don’t look like my eyes are red.   Lately, I’ve just been wearing this over flesh-toned eyeshadow primer (so you don’t see my veiny eyelids! :P ) with no other eyeshadow.
L’Oreal HiP Jelly Balm in Delectable
1. Yes, it’s HiP. not HIP or hip. I don’t type with alternating cases (nor do I like reading whole sentences like that! Why do people do it? I will never understand).
This gives your lips a pretty hot pink tint! Plus, it smells like cotton candy :)
(L-R): OPI in Teenage Dream, Lancome Juicy Tube in Fifth Avenue Frosting
I’m not a nail polish person, so it’s saying something that I actually bought and am wearing this color continuously. SO. MUCH. GLITTER. That’s why I love it!
This Juicy Tube is semi-sheer, so it’s perfect to wear over lipstick. And it smells like frosting. Yum.
(L-R): Fifth Avenue Frosting, Delectable, R.S.V.P.
What are your favorite pink makeup products? I’m always looking for new stuff! Have a good evening!
Cocoa-Banana Muffins?
So, yesterday I made some chocolate banana mini muffins.  They were yummy, but more like banana muffins than chocolate ones. You can’t really taste the chocolate, but they would probably actually taste chocolatey if they had chocolate chips in them! Sadly, I didn’t have any, so they were ‘Banana muffins that look like chocolate ones’. To eat them, I liked putting a piece of chocolate on top and melting it in the microwave or topping it with some chocolate nut butter (so they would be more chocolatey).
ps. Is it chocolaTY or chocolaTEY? I think is looks better with an e, even though spell check thinks otherwise.
Here’s the recipe! MAKE SURE TO USE CHOCOLATE CHIPS!
Cocoa-Banana Muffins
(Makes about 48 MINI muffins)
Ingredients:
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 Cup Yogurt
  • 3/4 Cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 flax egg*
  • 1 tsp chocolate extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • chocolate chips!
* To make a flax egg, combine 1 T ground flax seeds with 3 T water and let sit for a few minutes to combine.
Preheat oven to 350*F.  Mix Wet ingredients together in one bowl, and dry ingredients in another.  Then mix the wet ingredients into the dry ones.  Fill up a cupcake-liner filled mini cupcake pan with batter, each liner being 2/3 to 3/4 filled.  Put in the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes.
For this recipe, I used coconut yogurt, whole wheat flour, and vanilla soy milk, but feel free to use whatever kinds you want/have on hand!
ps.  I’m not completely happy with my photo. I need to work on my food photography!  That means more experimenting, yay! :)
